Evan Gaudreau

Evan Gaudreau is a former Division 1 college tennis player and a former Division 1 college coach. He is currently coaching in New England. When he is not coaching other players, he works with his daughters. When he was fourteen, he picked up tennis to get away from his nagging father yelling on the sidelines during soccer games and dropped soccer the following year and never looked back. After discovering the fun and enjoyment of individualized training, he delved into the technical side of the game only to learn that perfect technique can only get you so far.

He has 30 years of coaching experience. Starting as a “hitter” for local top junior players, he moved on to teaching full-time after college, mostly on his own but occasionally did a few stints at Indoor tennis clubs. From his journey and coaching experiences (and making a few mistakes along the way), he has incorporated a style of coaching that fits the player and works towards molding the personality to the game.

His main goal is to teach players how to look at the game differently and think outside the box. Realizing he can get more knowledge out to players through the internet, he has broken down his mental wall and is now moving his teaching online for a broader range of players to help improve their game.

“Over time, the game has changed a lot since I was a kid. Players and coaches need to adapt their ideas and coaching philosophy to mirror what’s going on today. Even technically, when I look back at how I swung the racket as a kid to how I swing the racket today, a lot has changed.”

“Technology is something I shied away from in the past. After spending time coaching in college and using video analysis for technique and match play, I realized I could help players improve faster. The way players put points together tells a lot about who they are and matching that to their personality pays dividends. It gets them to break through their limitations.”
